The Chelmsford Dance Centre
was set up by Phil Meacham in 1991, with an emphasis on being
accessible to all social and economic groups, using new and
sometimes revolutionary ideas of presentation, and incorporating
a high level of technical excellence. Emphasis was on top
quality music, using state of the art studio quality sound
systems, the latest club lighting, full air conditioning,
a Licensed Bar, and friendly and efficient staff.
The aim was to bring dance in Chelmsford into the 90s and
beyond, dispelling the old "Bouffant hair-do and sequin"
image, and into a high-tech relaxed and casual future, whilst
still maintaining a high level of technical excellence.
Dance forms taught by Chelmsford Dance Centre are Ballroom,
Latin American, Hip Hop, Street, Rock & Roll, Salsa, and
more! Pupils range from complete beginners with two (or sometimes
even three) left feet, to medalists, competition dancers,
and right through to training other local professional dance
teachers.
Regardless of standard, all our clients
are made to feel welcome and relaxed. We have never lost sight
of the fact that it sometimes takes considerable courage to
walk through the doors!

of teachers, each of whom is an accomplished dancer receiving
ongoing training from our studio. It is, first of all, our
structured and personalised approach to your development as
a dancer.
We guarantee our students to accomplish their goals. Through
our personalised programs, we provide you with a written lesson
plan that is designed specifically for you, with your interests
and problem areas in mind. We track, lesson by lesson, your
progress in our programs. Our teachers regularly meet to discuss
your progress and find ways to improve your dancing more quickly.
We have a highly interactive teaching approach that follows
the interrelated system of teaching. Our teaching style evolved
from the traditions of elegance and quality that we inherited
from years of experience and is based on more than a decade
of successful dance instruction in the Essex area.
Over the years, we have successfully coached not only social
dancers and wedding couples, but also provided training for
today's competitors in the world of DanceSport.
The studio is qualified with the National Association of Teachers
of Dancing, the United Kingdom Alliance, International Dance
Teachers Association and the Imperial Society of Teachers
of Dance. In addition, we are also members of the Ballroom
Dancers Federation, and our principal and Managing Director
is also a qualified International Adjudicator for the British
Dance Council.
We are also proud to be fully recognised under the governments
”Investors In People“ standard, as well as being
winner of the Mid-Essex Business Awards.
