CDC Trip To Blue Peter - Live!

On Wednesday 18th February 2009, Blue Peter is hosting ‘The World’s Biggest Bring & Buy Sale’ at Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, and they’ve asked us to get involved! They need young people from the Chelmsford Dance Centre and Centre Stage Academy to be the centre piece of the programme.

Blue Peter will broadcast LIVE on BBC One from the event, which will feature the Blue Peter presenters and other celebrities, as well as the many bringers and buyers.  The event is being put on to raise money for Blue Peter’s Mission Nutrition Appeal.  The appeal has the ambitious target of putting 2 million meals on the plates of children around the world and Blue Peter is working alongside three charities – ContinYou, The Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens and Save the Children, to make this happen.

They’ve asked us to attend and help with the bringing and buying and our children will be within the special TV area helping celebrities on their stalls.

A coach will be provided by BBC TV and leave Chelmsford Dance Centre at 2pm. The children will be required for rehearsals with the presenters and the programme will be live at 4.35pm. The coach will arrive back at Chelmsford Dance Centre at 7.30pm.

The day will be free but all the children attending will need to bring something to sell and should bring a couple of pounds to grab a bargain. The programme producers have asked us to run five stalls so we’ll need every child coming to have a small clear out and bring second hand stuff to sell. Anything you’d normally give to a jumble sale or car boot will do, although no electrical items please. Everything should be in good condition and everyone should bring as many items as they can. You could even make some cakes to sell but remember you won’t have a fridge so things should be OK not refrigerated. All the money raised from the sale will go the Blue Peter appeal.

Blue Peter are keen to provide a coach for as many children as would like to come, so if your child wishes to bring a friend that’s fine but please let us know. The BBC will also be providing adult helpers but if any adults would like to volunteer to help that would be much appreciated. Drinks and refreshments will be provided by the BBC.   We’re hoping as many people as possible can attend, not only will it be great fun. It will also provide those coming with a great experience of watching how a TV programme is made. Plus hopefully as many of you as possible will get on the telly!

Please let us know If you would like your child to be involved by returning the slip below as a matter of urgency, or feel free us on 07971 046374.  I need to confirm numbers going by Monday afternoon at the latest!

Regards

Phil & Zara Meacham
